Terphane’s polyester film lines address the critical demands of modern society: ensuring food safety and reducing food waste.
Bloomfield, New York, October 2024 – The International Fresh Produce Association (IFPA) will host its 2024 Global Produce & Floral Show from October 17-19 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia. This key event for professionals across the fresh produce and floral supply chain offers numerous opportunities to network, discover innovative products, and gain industry insights.
Terphane (www.terphane.com), a leader in BOPET (polyester) films in Latin America and a significant global player with operations in United States and Brazil, will showcase at the event the high-performance polyester lidding films from the Sealphane® family, including the innovative resealable Resealphane structure.
The Sealphane® lidding films are engineered to create strong seals that can handle a range of packaging needs with peelable (easy open) or permanent seals (lock seal). These films work well across various sealing temperatures and environments, ensuring a reliable seal even under harsh conditions (refrigeration, freezing, etc.). They also provide outstanding barrier properties, especially to oxygen and moisture.
This family of lidding films caters to a variety of applications in the food packaging industry, including: ready-to-eat meals, fresh produce, dairy and meat products, microwaveable and oven-ready packaging. Terphane offers various customization options to tailor Sealphane® films to specific needs, such as surface treatment for converting, anti-fog features, and special additives (UV-blockers or anti-microbial agents to further protect the contents).
“Sealphane® lidding films deliver robust sealing performance, versatility, and sustainability for various industries. Their ability to meet diverse packaging demands make them a trusted choice for manufacturers seeking to enhance product freshness, shelf life, and branding while reducing environmental impact,” explains Marcos Vieira, North America Sales and Global R&D Director at Terphane.
Resealphane is the result of extensive research and development work, utilizing cutting-edge technology from Terphane in collaboration with a partner company. This solution ensures multiple openings and reclosings of the lidding without compromising adhesive strength. “With this innovation, Terphane contributes to food preservation and waste reduction. These polyester solutions also perform exceptionally well in the sealing process, are easy to process on existing packaging lines, and do not require significant investments. We are talking about PET solutions that allow the packaging to be fully opened and resealed multiple times,” says Marcos Vieira.
Another key advantage of the Resealphane line is the ease of implementation for packaging converters and brand owners, as there is no need for investments in laser marking or die-cutting tools. Implementation is practically immediate for those using tray and lid solutions. The product is already successfully marketed in the United States in the fruit, vegetable, protein, deli, dairy (cheese), biscuit, and portioned food markets.
Resealphane films can also be supplied with post-consumer recycled (PCR) content, as part of Terphane’s sustainable film line, Ecophane®, which is FDA-approved for food contact.
All Terphane films are produced with state-of-the-art technology, ensuring the thinnest thicknesses on the market (from 5 to 50 microns), with the best barrier properties, and numerous advantages for converters and brand owners.
The Sealphane® lidding family and the Resealphane films will be on display at Terphane’s booth at the 2024 Global Produce & Floral Show, located at C1908.
